Green + Blue Infrastructure

Our inter-disciplinary approach to designing green and blue infrastructure (G+BI) ensures collaboration - from the outset - with our services in ecology, arboriculture and landscape. Our expertise in nature-led design combines strategic design skills with an accurate baseline, enabling us to deliver recommendations which are site-specific and add value to the project brief. We work to make space for nature, integrating planning and design requirements for people and the environment, for the benefit of both.

Our Green + Blue Infrastructure team members include chartered landscape architects CMLI and environmental consultants CIEEM,  a number of whom are also qualified Building with Nature Assessors.

Our landscape-led approach ensures connectivity with wider spatial planning and nature restoration frameworks, and we collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary professionals to integrate wider environmental benefits, including strategies for climate adaptation and resilience strategies, sustainable water management, shading, cooling and air quality.

Our Green + Blue Infrastructure services include:

  • Baseline Studies and Mapping, to define the site’s planning context and ‘green and blue’ assets.

  • Opportunities and Constraints Mapping – to inform design options and offer multiple benefits of green + blue infrastructure within your project

  • Nature-based solutions

  • Strategic G+BI Design Principles and Concepts – inputs to Design Team Options

  • Scheme Design and Spatial Masterplans

  • G+BI Plans, Strategies and Statements, with engaging sketches, plans and drawings to communicate your scheme

  • Urban Greening Factor – to identify opportunities for well-connected habitats, SuDS and planting within your project.

  • Building with Nature Assessment – to inform design and for quality assurance

  • Engagement, co-design and consultation on – public green spaces, biodiversity, sustainable water management, access to nature – to shape projects, inform decisions and de-risk planning

  • Ecosystems services advice – to guide the G+BI design approach and deliver multiple benefits

  • Natural capital advice

Our holistic approach brings together nature-based solutions and place-making with inclusive design, to shape places which offer multiple functions and benefits including access to nature, green spaces and greenways, health and well-being.
