We recently celebrated an important milestone in our history: 15 years of Tyler Grange. Even more recently, one of our longest-serving ecologists, John Moorcroft, celebrated his 15-year ‘Tylerversary’ too. John was one of the very first additions to the Tribe when we started the business. He’s been instrumental to the development of our company and our Tribe. We simply couldn’t think of a better person to work with for the last decade and a half. So here’s to you, John, a celebration of 15 years at TG!
From those early days, John has been part of the very fabric of what we’re about. When the Tyler Grange was just a group of us with big ideas in an even bigger empty room above a restaurant in Macclesfield, he brought not only his skills, but also a sense of reassurance, support and positivity right from the off. It’s something we love about John to this day.
I have such fond memories of John joining TG as one of our very first employees. From day one, John made everything feel easier. He brought his laugh into the room, his knowledge and project management skills to convince our clients to trust us and, most importantly, John was always calm and supportive of what we were doing. Even when we didn’t really know what we were doing!

Bringing a sense of calm confidence in those early years, John’s presence gave us the foundations we needed to grow. Not least by helping us land some of our first ever clients! It’s his influence that has been the bedrock for some of our longest standing client relationships. That influence is still felt today.
He’s an awesome, patient mentor. He’s helped so many TG’ers on their journey, myself included.

If there’s one thing that makes John special, it’s the way he lifts the people around him. Over the years, he’s supported countless members of our Tribe as they’ve found their way in the industry. Whether it’s mentoring junior ecologists in the field, sharing advice on tricky projects, or just being a reassuring presence, John has played a vital role in helping our people grow.
From the moment I joined TG as an assistant, John made me feel welcome. I still remember the first time I met him, out in the field counting pink-footed geese. As always, he was calm, knowledgeable, and somehow managed to make being out in the cold feel like a privilege.

It’s not just our Tribe who have benefited from John’s presence. Our clients have experienced the same care, thoughtfulness, and professionalism from him every day. His reputation for being steady, approachable and knowledgeable has earned the trust of so many. It’s no understatement to say that it’s been key to our success as a company.
He is the most measured, considered and kind person with the most calming and soothing voice and accent! 😂 He is also an incredible fountain of ecological knowledge, always willing to share his knowledge and answer questions, he is authentic, genuine, honest and is an amazingly unflappable consultant.

Fifteen years is a long time in any career, but in John’s case, it’s been a journey he’s shared with us as a company. From humble beginnings to nationwide industry recognition, John’s seen it all. He’s shaped not just the projects we work on, but the culture and character of Tyler Grange and our Tribe.

As we celebrate this milestone, we can reflect on all the great things we’ve achieved together and get excited about the things still to come. With more projects, more challenges, and more opportunities to inspire others, John’s story with TG is far from finished.
We’ll be raising a glass at our team day in October to properly mark the occasion. But for now, we just want to say: thank you, John, for 15 incredible years. TG wouldn’t be the same without you. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings to all of us!
