Client: Bute Energy
Sector: Rewnewable engergy
Twyn Hywel Energy Park is a nationally significant onshore wind development located on the border of Rhondda Cynon Taf and Caerphilly County Borough Councils in South Wales.
Tyler Grange was appointed as Ecological Clerk of Works to enable Ground Investigation works and ensure compliance with the Environmental Statement and Welsh environmental legislation. Our role included preparing an Ecological Monitoring Strategy that incorporated GIS‐based constraint mapping, Reasonable Avoidance Measures and toolbox talk content. We provided on‐site supervision during trial pits, rotary coring and grid corridor testing to ensure ecological safeguards were maintained throughout intrusive works. Comprehensive risk assessments and toolbox talks were delivered to manage ecological risks.
Through proactive planning and on‐site supervision, we protected Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation, priority habitats, ancient woodland and watercourses. Ground Investigation works were completed without ecological non‐compliance, maintaining biodiversity commitments under Welsh policy. This project demonstrates how Tyler Grange integrates ecology expertise with infrastructure delivery, enabling renewable energy development while achieving biodiversity net gain and supporting Welsh Government priorities.
