The Tween Bridge Solar Farm forms part of a nationally significant infrastructure project promoted by RWE Renewables, positioned between Thorne and Crowle within an extensive arable landscape. The project has undergone multiple phases of ecological baseline assessment, technical review and iterative consultation, with Tyler Grange appointed following early stakeholder consultation to lead ecology.
The early work involved reviewing historic surveys produced by Avian Ecology and validating their accuracy through updated survey work. Tyler Grange also worked alongside Avian Ecology to update protected species and habitat surveys to reflect changes to the Order Limits boundary and ensure a robust assessment was completed.
The Order limits is in close proximity to several European and national designated sites and supports a species that are qualifying features of these sites. Therefore, a thorough Habitat Regulations Assessment was required to provide certainty that the project could be delivered without detrimental impacts occurring.
As the project evolved, supporting documentation, including the Biodiversity Net Gain assessment and Landscape and Ecological Management Plan, reinforced a commitment to long‑term ecological enhancement. These documents outlined measurable post‑development habitat improvements and comprehensive monitoring requirements. The technical work provided clarity to stakeholders about how biodiversity, habitats, species and designated site considerations will be integrated into construction and operational phases to ensure lasting positive environmental change associated with the Tween Bridge Solar Farm.
